Jake, a second generation Nigerian, joined the army to prove to his father and the white world he grew up in that he was a “real American.” When he returns from fighting in Afghanistan, he reaches out to his acting teacher, Earl, seeking comfort, sanity and a chance to rekindle his broken dreams. Haunted by the ghosts of Shakespeare and Earl’s dead son, Elijah, they work together to conquer their personal demons and explore Hamlet.
