ANN:

I took off my green tights.

But before I went home, I stayed in the theater for a little while longer.

Where you don’t have to grow up.

Ann and her siblings—2 doctors, 3 Republicans and 1 teacher of rhetoric—fondly remember her star turn as Peter Pan at the Davenport Children’s Theater. Now, 50 years later at a Jameson-fueled kitchen table wake, Neverland calls again, casting the family back to the magical realm where the refusal to grow up confronts the inevitability of growing old.

“We’re overjoyed Sarah Ruhl has awarded SGT the rights to her new play,” comments Producing Artistic Director Sandy Shinner. “Under Jessica’s direction, Sarah’s humor and unique spin on the classic tale will touch every audience member’s heart. I’m excited to surprise the audience as the intensity of the first two sections of the play transforms into a world of imagination and metaphor.”

For Peter Pan on her 70th birthday by Sarah Ruhl is sponsored by Dan and Claudia Cyganowski and dedicated to the memory of Carol Cyganowski to honor her long-time support of Chicago Theater and women playwrights.

Also, join SGT for a special one-night only event on Monday, April 10th: Sarah Ruhl in Conversation: a fundraiser for Shattered Globe Theatre
