Cryptid Kid is a dancer, visual artist, and sideshow performer who was first spotted in Chicago two years ago. They bring eerie, gender-bent boogie to cabarets all across the city and spin fire with Pyrotechniq Productions (@pyrotechniq_productions on Instagram). And for those with a curious mind and weird streak, they delight in thrilling and chilling audiences by performing fire eating, human pincushion acts, hook and shibari suspension, and surgical reenactment (@drjamespembroke on Instagram).
Brittany and Richie have been training for a year and a half together to merge their circus training with different styles of theater. They are both members of the inaugural MFA European Devised Performance Practice cohort at Columbia College, and have recently completed their first year of training at LISPA in Berlin. They are also part of the team that runs Heels Over Head, a monthly Physical Theater variety show at the Actors Gymnasium.
Sam Virgilio (B0y W0ndr) is a dancer, choreographer, producer, and ameatuer circus artist whose work centers around expanding the accessible narrative of queer identity and challenging physical extremity through performance. Founder of Blue Fire Dance Collective and the Trapping Butterflies Project (#artistsagainstdomesticviolece); Sam is currently an Apprentice with the Joel Hall Dancers and developing a non-binary approach to dance instruction and training at Rebellion Rising Studios.
Jean Claudio (Claucho) is a Puerto Rican performer who's in love with naps and clowning. In 2012 decided to pursue the world of the circus and the physical theater and moved to Argentina for 2 years to learn, and train, and to eat a lot of sweets. Now he has been part of the Chicago community for a bit more than 2 years and looking forward to stay for a while. Currently working with Barrel of Monkeys, Emerald City Theater, Actors Gymnasium, Opera-Matic, CircEsteem, and as silly human.
Em Haverty is a writer and performer who likes emotional stuff and absurd stuff. They write for Scapi and at their own site ReclaimingLaughter.Wordpress.com.
David Chervony and Matt Riggen are a movement and sound duo. They have performed at variety nights, circus stages, and performance art galleries around the city. For the Wit, they will be performing their best known piece, Puppet/Puppet.
Rock + post-punk + indie folk = post-country. Born in Chicago theater, Liz + the Baguettes are bringing their high-energy stage show to kick off the release of their second full-length album, Highway Gothic, due out this spring from Butterbean Records.
